Jono and Libby walked from Melbourne to Canberra along the Alpine track. They prepared for it beforehand by dropping food in strategic places along the way - this only took a day or two to do, but then doing the actual walk took two months! They were far from civilisation for most of the time and we only heard from them twice...the first time was when they happened upon a (very rare) road and were sitting there writing letters when along came a car! They stopped it and asked the occupants to post their letters!! The second time was when they arrived at the township (winter ski resort) of Mt Hotham and were able to phone us. Actually they arrived there expecting to do a little replenishment of stocks and were a bit taken aback to find everything closed....they had completely lost track of time and had no idea it was the Easter weekend!
